Illinois Supreme Court.
Justice Burke was admitted to practice law
in Illinois in 1983 and served as a Justice
of the
Illinois Appellate Court from 1995-2006. In
2006, Justice Burke was appointed to the
Illinois
Supreme Court, where she has distinguished
herself as an outstanding member of the
Court.
Justice Burke is highly regarded for her
knowledge of the law, legal ability, and
passionate
commitment to the justice system. Justice
Burke also is dedicated to public education
about
the key role the courts play in our
democratic society. Justice Burke is devoted
to community
service and remains actively involved in the
Special Olympics which she helped found.
Through her leadership, the first
International Special Olympics was held in
Soldier Field
almost 40 years ago. Justice Burke is a
leading light in Illinois’ legal community
and a credit
to the Illinois Supreme Court."
