Never one to shy away from
competition, DuPage Circuit Judge Kenneth L.
Popejoy is dusting off his running shoes
again.
This time, the former track and
cross-country standout is seeking a 10-year
seat on the Second District Appellate Court
in Elgin.
The 58-year-old Wheaton man is running in
the February 2010 Republican primary for the
Elgin-based court, which encompasses 13
counties in northern Illinois, including
DuPage, Kane, Kendall, McHenry and Lake.

A former DuPage County chief
judge who pioneered a substance abuse
sentencing program is officially kicking off
her campaign for higher office.
Justice Ann B. Jorgensen is seeking a
10-year seat on the Second District
Appellate Court. The Illinois Supreme Court
appointed her to that court in July 2008 to
complete a retiring colleague's term.
So far, the Wheaton woman is running
unopposed in the February 2010 Republican
primary for the Elgin-based court, which
encompasses 13 diverse counties in northern
Illinois, including DuPage, Kane, Kendall,
McHenry and Lake.

Jorgensen To Appeals Bench

Chief Judge Ann B. Jorgensen
of the 18th Circuit has been appointed to
the Illinois Appellate Court, 2nd District,
and will be installed July 7. She has been a
judge for 19 years and chief judge since
2005.
Judge Jorgensen, a member of the ISBA Bench
and Bar Section Council, succeeds Justice
Thomas E. Callum, who will retire July 6.
Her appointment will expire Dec. 6, 2010.
